Firefox 1.01 (Security Update) Released

Get it while it's hot. I've been running the testing release for a couple of days, and it seems good to me.

Prior to installing Firefox 1.0.1, please ensure that the directory you've chosen to install into is clean and doesn't contain any previous Firefox installations.

Here's what's new in Firefox 1.0.1:

* Improved stability
* International Domain Names are now displayed as punycode. (To show International Domain Names in Unicode, set the "network.IDN_show_punycode" preference to false.)
* Several security fixes.
Unofficial Firefox 1.0.1 changelog, to get more detail on it.

I heard they still have it where you have to uninstall the previous version to install the new one. Seems awfully excessive for a .01 release. Though, I will probably relent soon and download it anyway.

They should be fine. When you uninstall FF, it asks you if you want to delete the directory. Say no. Then, the new version will have everything.

New Firefox update out 1.02

Just to let you all know that the a new firefox update is avaliable. Guess it doesn much of the last update but just better.

This one you just need to install no need to uninstall the old version, at least that was my experiance.

Anyone else have a problem with Firefox and a non-funcioning auto-update? Mine does not check for updates. When I ask it to check manually it doesn't find any, even though I know they are there! Hmm. Maybe this next update will fix that. Maybe I should look to see if anyone has filed a bug report?

I was able to install the update without uninstalling my previous verion. Just went in fine. Thanks for this post.
