I have a big problem with firefox...need help - Tilted Forum Project Discussion Community

Ok so last nite Im sitting at home on Dave's laptop...Firefox running....I click on the chat link and chat for a little while then shut the chat room down. Firefox has completely stopped functioning. I get the window closed...click on the Icon to open it back up...I get a message asking for which user I want to open it, it only contains a default user. Nothing happens when I try to click on it.

So...not wanting to mess anything up I create a new user and it works fine.

This morning Dave gets to work and its automatically opened up with the new user I set up and neither of us can find a way to get back to the default where ALL our book marks are.

Has this happened to anyone else? I cant find anything in their help documentation that gives a user profile option to choose from.

ok Im a retard.....I did finally find something....it told me how to do a start/run command for firefox.exe -profilemanager (with all firefox windows closed) to get the user profile box to come up so you can choose which one you want..

mod...this can be deleted unless someone thinks it might be useful to someone else

Next time, if you see the "Create a new user" message, quit the program, then go to your Task Manager and kill the 'firefox.exe' process. It's a flaw, there's a bug open for it.

I normally reboot when I get it, but I wasnt where I could do that when it happened last nite.

Reboot would clear the stray process out as well. If you care about the details, there's stuff at Bug 253950 - When the default profile is locked on startup, UI needs to be less confusing.
