Ipod corrupt?
I have a 10GB ipod. I filled it up a while ago and now I want to put some new music on. The problems is, everytime I plug the ipod into the connector (connected to the firewire card) it resets my computer. In the case where it doesnt it doesnt recognize it or my computer freezes. Then when I restart my computer with the Ipod still plugged in the computer will freeze at the Win XP splash screen and so will the ipod. It did the first time I plugged it in but iTunes wasn't recognizing it and the hardware profile said the device could not start (code 10), so I unstalled it thinking that it would automatically reinstall itself, but it didnt. Now I don't know what to do. I installed the software, but that didnt do anything. I also put in a new mobo and cpu recently (2 weeks). Would that have anything to do with it? I'm clueless on what to do. Any sugguestions would help. Thanks in advance.

Do you have anything else that is Firewire-based? It sounds to me more of a problem with the Firewire card (software or hardware, who knows) than with the iPod.
If no one can help you here, check out the forums at ipodlounge.com.

There's lots of possibilities out there, just trying to narrow things down a bit.

If you are still having the issue:
To go a step farther... follow the previous instructions about reseting the iPod (Hold Play/Menu) and then as soon as the iPod restarts, hold down left(track down) and menu until a service menu appears. (I don't remeber if it works on that generation of iPod.) Choose HD Chk... or something similar. This may give you a clue. -BD
