DIY: Small wireless sender/receiver pair

I recently came up with an idea to create a wireless remote shutter release for my camera. Most of the commercial ones run upwards of $200+. I figure if I can find a small wireless remote sender/receiver pair, I can create a very cheap alternative. I just have to hook it up to my wired camera shutter release.

Does anyone know where I might find a cheap, small remote sender/receiver(detector) pair or have an idea of off the shelf products I can strip for parts?

I'm not looking for advice on how to wire up the electronics, that should be fairly easy - just a relay. I'm mostly concerned with the size, the smaller the better. Thanks
