Florescent bulbs

I plucked a florescent bulb from my old scanner and I want to light it up. Is there an easy way to determine the voltages I need or do I have to do it experimentally. It’s tiny; about the diameter of the tiny straws you stir coffee with and about the diameter of a normal drinking straw.
