Legos are Fun!

My god this guy was bored!

http://members.cox.net/richw/lego.htm

I wish I had that many legos to do something fun like that.

AquaFox 01-11-2005 07:50 PM

wow, soo sweet!

ElwoodBlues 01-11-2005 07:52 PM

I saw something the other day with this little pictorial of lego dudes building a Star Wars Battle Cruiser. It made me really want to get some big fuckin lego thing and build it. Maybe I will.

j. dakar 01-11-2005 08:04 PM

makes me wanna get some legos...
have you guys seen the lego church?

1slOwCD8 01-11-2005 08:21 PM

Wow, thats dope, someones got a little too much time on their hand though.

ICER 01-11-2005 08:39 PM

And my kids laughed when I told them that Legos can be fun, Hell when I was younger I built a R2-D2, CP3O, The Spaceship Yamoto and the General Lee car.

There's no limit as to what you can make with them. But the key piece that eludes this generation is imagination.

scott_p_1 01-11-2005 08:41 PM

The computer cases are really cool. But that church. Wow! That must have taken a LONG time!

if you have unlimited time on your hands. I just can't see myself sitting around drawing up plans for a lego church. I'm pretty sure I have better things to do wih my time.

now where did I put my meccano set? ... wanders off

omega2K4 01-11-2005 10:52 PM

Those PC cases are cool. They'd be better if they were a solid color.

Nefir 01-11-2005 11:29 PM

Excellent use of Legos... I love those things, and would gladly attempt something like this given time (and talent). I do have alot of my old Legos still lying around somewhere, from the olden days....

The later ones had a much better color scheme than the first few. I'm not too excited about the gaudy colors, but the idea is still sound.

Demeter 01-12-2005 05:43 AM

Lego rocks, even for girls.

definately rediculous when you make lego your life. I never want to see anyone do anything like this ever again, it makes me think about how sad some people's lives are.

GOOD GRAVY. That just makes me want to get up and go do something, before I get so bored in the house I start doing something ludicrous like a humongous lego church.

stevie667 01-12-2005 06:51 AM

Ahhh lego, i love it like a brother.

Makes me want to break out my stuff and anex the living room for a week or so while i build something...

Kudos to the guy on his designs though.

yellowchef 01-12-2005 07:01 AM

awesome...

I want one!

yellowchef 01-12-2005 07:03 AM

the church thing is weird.. but wow, the time and patience some people have.

d*d 01-12-2005 07:20 AM

just because you can doesn't mean you should

rockogre 01-12-2005 07:33 AM

Pretty impressive. I really like the look it gives the equipment. Here at work everything is Dell, and it's all black.

Demeter 01-12-2005 07:34 AM

It's a labor of love. Awesome.

ShaniFaye 01-12-2005 07:36 AM

Looking at the site for the church made me cry.....That poor kitty only lived 4 years :(

cyrnel 01-12-2005 07:44 AM

I'll repeat it. That church is... amazing because of the feat, yet somehow disturbing. It's similar to when someone becomes preoccupied with their scale train set and spends decades building tracks around their house with little scale restaurants and little scale customers and little scale guys that wave flags and bigger scale functional water towers, etc. Something makes me think their families should have visited more often.

Bratwurst 01-12-2005 08:45 AM

I was about to post that I would hate to have to change a card or add a hard drive to one of those things but I see that he added side panels that actually detach later. Not like those were probably intended to last as a permanent case. Or were they?

And as far as way too much time with legos, check out this guys stuff:
http://www.ericharshbarger.org/cgi-b...ages/mona_lego

He's got some really cool stuff on his site. He built a working grandfather clock too with only legos!

j. dakar 01-12-2005 09:12 AM

hobbies are good and everything, but that just seems a little creepy to me.

Wingless 01-12-2005 10:25 AM

There is a difference though... the guy on the link Bratwurst posted looks like he gets paid for some of his LEGO projects. The lady who built the church out of LEGOs aparentally did it for the hell of it...

Correct me if I'm wrong, though.

bendsley 01-12-2005 12:19 PM

I think I saw this on fark or slashdot the otherday.

Bratwurst 01-12-2005 12:20 PM

I think I saw the grandfather clock the guy made on fark or slashdot, or somewhere... I can't remember. Thats why I knew about the mona lisa guy.

Gortexfogg 01-12-2005 01:47 PM

The great thing about those cases is that they probably cost nothing since the people that made them already had zillions of legos. Very cool stuff.

troit 01-12-2005 01:50 PM

That is actually pretty wild. Guy has a couple extra minutes of time on his hands.... ;)

thriolith 01-12-2005 03:34 PM

Too bad most of those end up looking like crap. The last one isn't that bad though. It'd be great if someone did something a little more creative and didn't just make a standard computer case shape.

piesen 01-16-2005 11:26 AM

I like them good job something more than just a cream or gray or black box

VitaminH 01-16-2005 11:46 AM

Anyone ever read the bood Microserfs by Douglas Coupland? Good book about computer programmers who end up starting their own company that is making a virtual lego type program, and everything in their office was made out of legos. Seems like these computers would be right at hime there. :)
