Game Installation Problem
Ok, this problem came up a few months ago and it has pissed me off to no fucking end. My computer is no longer letting me install any of my old games (Pre-2000) with this error message popping up and saying this autoexec.nt file is not capable of running Windows or DOS applications. I really don't know how this happened. This crap didn't start happening until a few months ago. Anyone here have any ideas?

you need help, we need info. |
System specs are as follows:
Pentium 4 2.50 GHZ 768 megs of RAM 128 MB GeForce 5200 FX card OS is Windows XP Home Edition I do regular spyware checks and defrag my hard drive whenever it needs it Sorry for not giving this info sooner |
bumping this one up

I believe this error means that file is damaged and I also think that file is the one that is required for older 16 bit applications to run under 2000 and XP.
If you do a search on your HD for the file you should find it in 2 places. (make sure you are set to look in system folders/hidden files & folders) c:\windows\system32 (the home of the file) and in c:\windows\repair (a backup copy) Copy it from the repair folder to the system32 folder and reboot. That might fix it. |
portwineboy's method fixed it. Thanks man!
