Cheap Surround Sound for dvd player
I'm looking to set up a cheap surround sound system for my dvd player. Heres what I am thinking of buying:
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...131-019&depa=1 The only problem is that my dvd player only has the standard yellow composite video + red/white composite stereo outputs. Will that work with that surround sound set, and if it doesn't, do you have any suggestions? Also, are there wall-mounting sets for the sattelite speakers? If so, where can I get them? |
The wall mounts will cost more than the system you want to get. Personally I wouldn't get them at all. I hope you know how much 5w output sounds like. If you have a spare pair of computer speakers why not use them? You ought to get a better DVD player with digital output, a decent receiver for preamp and a better 4.1 or 5.1 speaker system. I didn't think much of speakers in general until I got a set of Klipsch Promedia 5.1 Ultra.

You will not get surround sound from those. You need speakers with a digital decoder and a dvd player with digital output.
Those will give 5.1 from a computer with a 5.1 soundcard or the rare external decoder, but that's it. |
Aw, shit. Do you guys have any suggestions on what to buy, DVD player wise and speaker wise?
Then again, all I really want is sound coming from in front of me and from behind me, added with a bit of subwoofer bass. Is that the surround sound your'e talking about? Enlighten me.. |
if it's something small, probably just get an apex playyer and a logitech z-5500 sound system.
I know they are computer speakers, but if you aren't planning on filling a large room and it's for yourself then those speakers aren't bad. I have middle of the line sound system, and truthfully the better you get the more exponentially priced it goes up. |
