Throw it away and put the soldering iron back in the closet and pick up a book on electronics. Actually I'm not surprised that happened, the regular stereo speakers draw way too much current for the wimpy little powered computer speakers to supply.

the real way to do this is to run a line from your soundcard to an input on your receiver, then hook up the stereo speakers to the receiver (where they belong) and enjoy nicely amplified computer sounds.

What exactly are you trying to do?? Cheap speakers can't handle the high outputs like stereo speakers. Don't misunderstand the PMPO rating, 1000 Watts PMPO IS NOT the same as rms. I think you need to learn basic electronics and do some research on the Internet before you heat up that soldering iron again.

Here, here. The amp you pulled out of those little computer speakers have nowhere near the capacity to drive a large set of speakers. If you're terribly attached to the speakers, just pick up a good quality amp (standard monitor 2 channel amp) from a music store, or if sound quality isn't your top priority, Radio Shack even has 25W amps that work pretty well.

Google around and I'm sure you'll find what you're looking for.

or get a used Hi Fi amp. Most thrift shops have 'em. Places like Salvation Army stores.
Pawn shops. etc.
