HP PSC 2110 Problem
I've a problem printing anything with PSC 2110.
I turn the unit on, and most of the time it initializes just fine. Every now and then, quite at random, it will make a horrible repetitive sound, which seems to be coming from the scanner. It seems as if the scanner light is ramming against the right side of the scanner. There is nothing I can do to stop this other than turn the unit off with the On button, or pull the power cord. But even if the forementioned behaviour does not occur, the printer simply will not print. It does not matter what software I use, the document is sent to the printer and according to the printer status window in XP, it is 100 % sent. Meanwhile the printer just says "1 Copy - 100%" without making any sounds at all. It just sits there. Nothing prints out. Sometimes 10 minutes or more into the waiting game, Windows will report that there is a problem with printing the document. I am not sure what to do. I've tried aligning the cartridges; 2110 will print out the alignment page correctly, with all expected colours etc. But it won't scan it. It gets stuck at the alignment process at this point. The printer cartridges are brand new. I cannot find an obvious physical flaw. I've tried all versions of the driver software, nothing has worked. I've tried downgrading Windows to 2000, temporarily - didn't help. I've applied the firmware update - nothing has helped. I am at my wit's end here.

How old is it? (it might be defective, leading to warranty, which might have expired)
Have you tried printing a test page from the printer itself ? I think the 2110 can do that. If that works, it's not physically defective. If it doesn't, it might be... |

It's not very old. A couple of years from what I can tell. Bought from eBay (I know, I know...but I only paid $10 + s/h, so not a great loss).
The funny thing is, it used to print just fine for a while, it wasn't received DOA. I've read of other people having experienced similar problems, and I think this is fixable, if only I could figure out the exact cause of it. The printer, when using its front panel menu, prints a perfect, flawless self-test report.

I have a dead one of these on my bench which was brought in with similar problems. I tried the things you did and then the stupid thing quit. Dead.
I am a HP dealer and called HP for support but got the "We no longer support that product" answer.... that was helpful. You didn't pay too much for it.... so consider it dead. Remember it will cost more to repair it than its worth. Sorry

The scanner works perfectly, and I've no other scanners, so I'll probably end up keeping it until it dies or I can afford another All-In-One.

Hmm, okay.
I had tried to reset the printer already. The manual said to plug the power cord in while pressing down the cancel button and the left arrow button. I did as told. This didn't do anything to solve the problem for me. I thought I'd try again for kicks, though. But before that I went to the printer's menu and selected Reset to Defaults. I was reaching out to the back of my monitor, which is where I keep the surge protector, to unplug the printer's power cord once again, when I accidentally pressed the master power button for the whole protector. Needless to say, everything powered down - the printers, the computer, monitor, speakers, the PSX... Fantastic. Does wonders for the file system, I'm sure. So I sighed and turned it all back on. The printer turns itself on, runs the initialization procedure and starts printing the queue! Produces a flawless colour printout of my wife in her bridal gown, which was the document I was trying to print, to test the printer. Must've been the resetting to defaults via the panel menu. I don't know how long it is going to work, but at least the unit is capable of printing flawlessly when it wants to. Go figure.
