World of Warcraft + BSOD = Disk Read Error
So my friend convinces me to buy World of Warcraft. Actually its a cool game except for one minor detail. For some reason, when I tried to play it, I got a BSOD. I thought it was no big deal, I mean come on its WINDOWS, but when I tried to start my computer again it said Disk Read Error...Please hit CTRL ALT DEL to restart. Any suggestions on what happened?
I have a Athlon 2500+, 512 pc3200 ram, 2 160gig hard drives in RAID 0 (which is what I think is wrong), MSI board, ATI X800 pro video card. My computer was a solid running machine up until a half an hour ago. GOD I HATE WINDOWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
The first thing that comes to mind is some kind of driver problem. Those games tend to update/change drivers to gfx cards and whatnot. I'd consider starting up in safe-mode and uninstalling the game and seeing if that fixes anything. If it works, update all your drivers and try reinstalling. Maybe chose custom install and only let it install the game and things that are absolutely necessary to run and upgrade DirectX etc. on your own time...
These are just guesses as I'm not computer expert, but it's what I'd do so I guess it's a start.. Best of luck. WoW is a fun game btw ;) -T |
It was one of my hard drives. I put the two hard drives into another computer at different times. Windows found the first one, but Windows crashed when I put the second one in. DAMN IT ALL TO HELL!!!!
