Second Thought.com?? wtf
Ok so Im just on the net a little while ago and I get this pop up telling me that I have been awarded a free browser enhancer. It has a lil box with a check mark in it and says that if I close the window with out unchecking the box that the software will be installed. So I unchecked the box and closed the window and it must have installed it anyways because I have the icons for it on my desktop. The software is called Second Chance and I've never heard of it. Im thinking it is some kind of virus though because every time I go to open my windows media player I get the same window popping up telling me I been awarded the free browser enhancment. I clicked on the icon for the hell of it and it has a link to download a uninstaller but Im not sure if this is going to make my problem worse or better because I don't know if this is a virus or not. I just wanted to know if anyone else has got this pop up and what they did to get the software uninstaller off their computer. Thanks.

run hijackthis and post the results if you can't interpret them, that should tell if it's an ie/media player virus or not. other than that, update your virus definitions, run spybot s&d, adaware, and, if you have a little more technical knowledge, tds-3.
links to above-mentioned progs: spybot search and destroy: safer-networking.org adaware: http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/ hijackthis: http://www.spychecker.com/program/hijackthis.html tds-3: http://tds.diamondcs.com.au/ hope this helps |
