iTunes Messing up

Hey my iTunes wont play cds for some reason, and if I try to rip cd's with it they just apear as 'clicks'. When it goes to play my songs it just plays them as clicks, it is very anoying. For some reason it is only iTunes, everyother player I have plays cd's just fine and rips them no problem (I like using iTunes to rip because it organises my stuff very nicely)

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling it to no avail. Not sure what is causing this. I have gone throught options and preferences to see if sound output is using one of my unused sound cards but I cant find anything related to this anywhere.

Ummm, I really got nothing but just a shot in the dark: Do you have quicktime installed? Perhaps that is needed, especially if you're ripping too/trying to play aac audio.

Also perhaps there is a confilict with one of the other ripping/player apps?

Operating system (I'm assuming Windows)?

Can you play other already-encoded songs through iTunes?

Can you play the CD directly through iTunes?
