Help manipulating LARGE file...
Well, I've got a problem that I hope someone else can provide some insight into a solution for...
I've got a 3.5 GB ZIP file that contains a single 4.5 GB ISO file. I would like to burn a copy of the ISO to DVD. The problem is, I've got the ZIP file on a UDF formatted DVD+RW disk, and the burner is on a Win98 machine. When I try to un-zip the file to the HDD, I run into the FAT32 filesize limit - shiat. I also have a WinXP laptop which I can access from the Win98 machine via an SMB share, but when I try to Burn Image to Disk from within Nero on the Win98 machine, it misreports the ISO as approximately 10% of its actual size, and then hangs about 20% of the way through the process. The only other option I can think of is to rebuild the Win98 machine as an XP machine, but I'd really rather not... Any suggestions or ideas?

Well you hit the nail right on the head. fat32 has a filesize limit of 4gb and theres no way around it i know of. Heres my suggestion, I would copy the 4.5gb file onto the XP laptop, Then on the 98 machine download an ISO of Knoppix Linux (http://www.knoppix.net/get.php). Knoppix is a Linux distro that comes as a LiveCD which you just boot off of and have a fully wokring linux OS. Burn the knoppix iso and boot off of that. Once your in knoppix there should be a cd/dvd writing program in one of the menus called k3b. From there you should be able to access the file from the WinXp laptop and burn it. Good luck!
