Ethernet card help - PLEASE!
OK I really messed something up and its driving me insane! This morning I picked up a Netgear Wireless bundle (router and notebook card). I hooked up the router but ran the install disk for the notebook card on my desktop. Now if I turn my desktop on with the internet connection hooked up my mouse and keyboard wont work. If i boot up without the internet connection everything works fine but I have to unplug the cable everytime i reboot. I reinstalled the original driver for my ethernet (on board Abit NF7-S) but still I am having problems. Please help.

You need to start over. Uninstall all your new nic stuff, make sure you check the registry on your desktop for artifacts. Then start over and install the software for the nic on the machine it will be installed to. It seems like a conflict (IRQ) with the netgear notebook software, and the Abit software. Too many requests. Like I said, get rid of all traces of the Netgear NIC from your desktop, and install that properly on your notebook. Then run a cable from the router to your desktop, and use the wireless nic for your notebook.
It is difficult troubleshooting online, but, I hope my little bit 'o info helps you get up and running. Last edited by poof; 11-26-2004 at 01:30 PM.. |
