Photoshop Elements really sucks!

I just installed Photoshop Elements 3.0 and I must say that I am not impressed! I mean, I thought it was okay at first and it seemed to do anything I needed but, then, I try to fix a seam in the image with the clone tool, only to discover that I cannot control clone opacity with my tablet pen pressure! It looks like the only tool where this can be done is the brush tool. How stupid is that!

Now, I would be happy to be wrong and that this can be set somewhere not obvious in the UI (it is obvious how to do so for the brush tool) but it really doesn't look like it. I am really pissed off and someone in the Photoshop department is really going to get it from me!

Here's a link for some background to this story...

full version is much much much better, I guess that's why there's the $630 price difference....

but as far as your question goes, I don't know if you can set the opacity in elements. I know it can be done in the full version.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

Speaking of pain (and maybe I'm just being neurotic), I actually moved to Photoshop 6. The problem with Photoshop 7.0 (and maybe KrazyKracka and correct me on this) is that you must set each brush to link pen pressure with opacity. Considering how many brushes there are and how cumbersome brush configuration is, this is unrealistic. There's no way to simply say "look, simply control opacity with pen pressure for all brushes!" This is in stark contract with version 6.

Now, I can understand that such fine control of the brush size can be important in painting but Photoshop is not a paint program! It is an (raster) image editing program and, for that task, dynamic brush sizes are unimportant...

Elements = crap

Elements was never meant to be anything but a basic front end for beginners with no computer knowledge, a crappy digital camera, and no software knowledge. Even then it is a failure.

There are tons of great image editing software out there, including the Real Deal Photoshop which rocks.

Besides that, go to Linux and start using GIMP, it also rocks, and Linux will rule the world!
