Keyboards without a number pad...
Does anyone know of a keyboard without a number pad or, even better, a detached number pad? It's just that it's used so infrequently and it forces my (right handed) mouse to be farther away from my hand than it needs to be, so it would be better if the number pad were, say, to the right of my mouse!
I saw a keyboard with no number pad but it had a small backspace key, which is one of my biggest peeves with certain keyboards. A double-sized backspace key is a necessity for me... |

Yeah I can't stand the laptop-esque backspace keys that are the size of a dime. I gotta have my backspace key the size of North Carolina or I hit the key beside it everytime.
I've never seen a keyboard that was missing a numpad. I'd be interesting to see one (that's made for Desktop PCs)! -Lasereth

Is this what you're looking for?
http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/pr...CONTENTID=9575 I don't know it's price (looks expensive), and I'm not sure wether it is really ergonomic, but it's design is sweet! Lasereth the above is an example of a keyboard without a keypad... if you forget to bring it with you

I have one of these and have been tremendously pleased with it in the 8 years that I've had it. For the past 3 years it's been on my 4-port KVM. The only things you might not like about it...no Windows keys (I use Ctrl-Esc and Shift-F10), and the "L" rather than "T" arrow key layout. When I play games I remap and I'm good to go.
BTC still lists this aging product but I don't know for sure that they even still make it. the next model in the list, 9118, is quite new and is sure to be current. Looks like this store has a lot of small keyboards for sale:
http://www.fentek-ind.com/minikb.htm#kbmhh My personal preference is the "Happy Hacking" keyboards. All the keys you need, none you don't. |
