Stupid Outlook problem....

Ok all of a sudden I can't send emails I get the following error in outlook:

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: 'mail.stevesscoring.com', Server: 'mail.stevesscoring.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F

All my settings are correct and It does the same thing to some coworkers computers. The computers that is does it to me are XP and the computers that do it at work are 98.....And it is the newest version of Outlook and yes I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Outlook. And at my home it also does it on mylaptop...any ideas?

Have you tried restarting the smtp service for sendmail? If it's doing the same thing on others' computers, then its not Outlook, but sendmail.

I was able to telnet into your mail server on port 25, and it shows sendmail is listening on that port, might just try to restart the service.

well, i just used telnet to see what mail server you were running. to restart the service, just go to /etc/init.d/sendmail restart.

do you have access to your mail server or does someone host your mail for you?

Have you changed ISP's recently?

If your ISP is different from the mail server, then a lot of mailservers won't permit you to send mail through them. This is to prevent spammers from hijacking the server to send anonymously.

It looks like you might be connecting to centurytel? If your IP is in a range not recognised by stevesscoring.com_hostISP then this is the issue.

Set outlook to send thru your connection ISP, keeping the old stevesscoring address in the 'from' setting. The mail will be sent thru your ISP's smtp server, but will still have your old address for people to reply to.
