Question about scanning negatives
I just got an Epson 4870.
In order to scan 35mm negatives to 8X10 at 300dpi, should I leave it at 100% and crank the resolution, or leave the resolution at 300dpi and crank the magnification? What yields better results?? Thanks. |
I believe that increasing both the magnification and resolution at the same rate yeilds the best results. At least I believe that's how photolabs do it. Mind you they don't use over the counter Epsons, Lexmarks and HP's.

You can try it both ways and compare them, but I think that you should use the max resolution that the scanner supports and then you can mess with it once you have it digitized.
