Kazaa Lite Problem

Ok, here's the deal.

i search for this file on kazaa, and i see that like 65 people have the file and are sharing it.

so i double click to download it, and it cant find any of them. sometimes i get lucky and find one person, and download it at extremely low speeds.

i have kazaa lite 2.1 on winxp.

btw, i have the entire norton programs, and the firewall is turned on. but i get same results w/ firewall off.

the connection goes thru a dlink router. (i have cable)

You probably have a horrible rating. If you want to pump it up, increase your upload speeds, and number of uploads to other people.

Alternatively, you should look into "Kazaa lite K++" (just put it into google and look for a site url that is "doahost" or something like that) You'll have a permanent 1000 rating, so you are not held back by a low rating.

Is there a program like that for just plain ol' Kazaa? Just wondering

GremlinDelirium 05-18-2003 01:00 PM

why in the world would you want plain ol' kazaa??? Do you know how much of a virus that program is by itself? K++ is the only way to go. I don't know what to say about the low download speed thoug, sometimes you just have to let the download sit there and eventually it will find a fast person... Also, how many other downloads you running, the more you have the slower everything else seems to go for me... i tend to keep my download list to 10 or under.

To use Kazaa lite you to copy, insert files to the registery of another program and that's a little too complex for some of us newbies.

Actually, mahlerisgod, with Kazaa Lite K++
all you have to do is install it. It will ask if
you want to edit your hosts file, and just
say yes. You will be better off for it. K++
will do everything for you, and I have not seen
any problems with it.

On a side note:
I'm not really sure what you mean by
editing the registry. You should not be
editing a registry, or a program should not
tell you to do it. It should do it during
the install, or it should not modify the
registry at all.

How do I get rid of Kazaa? I have downloaded the K++ version but I would like to get rid of the old version but when I go to the control panel (Add/Remove Programs) it says it is missing a ServiceRunDll and cannot be removed. How do I get this off my system? Being a newbie a step by step tutorial would be much, Much appreciated. Thanks

Another Kazaa Lite Problem: I downloaded and installed Kazaa Lite K++ but it seems to think that my shared folder is my My Documents folder. Everytime I click on the my Kazza Shared Folder it takes me to my My Documents folder! How can I correct this? When I download a file I want to go to the shared folder not my My Documents folder. Thanks for any info

You really need to uninstall and delete all traces of Kazaa before you install K++. I think that this will probably sort your shared folder issues as well. As far as a step-by-step uninstall goes, unless you are comfortable editing the registry to not only remove the program but also it's Control Panel entry - I'd be a little wary. Start here: http://www.kazaa.com/us/contact/index.htm and good luck

Well, i'm not really sure about the missing dll problem you are having, but here is what I did once.

1) delete the entire kazaa program folder (example "C:\program files\Kazaa")
2) download and use "RegCleaner" from www.jv16.org - delete all registry keys that are authored by Kazaa
3) install K++

====

To change your shared folder

1) goto Options
2) click on the Traffic tab
3) put your folder in the "shared folder" box.
