Windows serial number location
So it's about time I nuked my machine after a good infection by w32.randex and the spyware it brought have become a large headache.
However, My microsoft sticker is in a file and being to lazy to dig through all my files, figured I'd ask: Is the serial number entered at windows setup the same number you see on My computer > right click > Properties? It looks one digit short of the windows 2000 16 digit serial numbers. I know it is the serial number in 95/98, but can't bloody remember if it works that way in 2000  Also, where in the registry can the windows serial be found? |
No, the serial number is hidden and encrypted, there are utils out there that will find and display it for you. I'll see if I can find one.

Ok found it, go here and download keyfinder. Run it and it will tell you what your product key is.
