Geforce MX420 OC

I want to overclock my video card, and I wan't to know if there's a place to connect a fan to the Geforce MX420 video card. Has anyone else had experiences with this POS card? It's all I have for now, so I might as well OC it as much as I can. I need to have as much cooling as possible though.

Not every model of videocard will overclock. Some won't OC at all. My old GeForce 4 TI4200 wouldn't OC 1 MHz without freezing up. I'd do extensive research on your videocard before trying to OC it.

If you do want to OC it, I recommend using Coolbits, a program hidden within NVIDIA's drivers. Do a Google search to figure out how to unlock and use it. :)

If you want as much cooling as possible, I'd try using a vga cooler (keyword search on NewEgg.com). I'd suggest using an Arctic Cooling VGA Cooler, but you need to find one that matches interfacing with the GPU. No experience with the card directly.

www.ocforums.com is great for all kinds of overclocking information. I've read a lot of stuff there and learned many things. Take a look in their video card section, I think I saw a post similar to this recently there.

(Am I allowed to reccomend other forums for things?)

Since this is on this topic. I have a ATI Radeon 9600XT, Id like to overclock it a bit. I have a PCI fan just below my AGP slow, for more cooling. How would I go about doing this? I don't want anything extreme really, just simple. :)

This looks like a good tool for overclocking ATI cards:

I have a Geforce mx400, so I dont have much experience with overclocking ATI video cards. Good luck!

What I really wanted to know is if I can plug a fan into my graphics card or not. I don't have any money right now, so I can't go out and buy anything. I have to make my own stuff. I've got a fan from an old cpu, will that plug into the GPU?

NavySEAL 10-12-2004 05:48 PM

I don't think thats possible to just put a CPU fan right on top of the GPU, and I dont think its recomended. Even if you try I bet it will just fall right off.
