Best Place For Firefox Extensions

I've noticed several threads here where someone will wind up suggesting Firefox as an alternative to IE. Then someone usually mentions Mozilla.org as a good place to get extensions for Firefox. Well, that's a good place to start, but they have a limited number of extensions. So I thought I would suggest The Extensions Mirror. It's a forum that has just about every extension you might need.

What extensions do you use and why?

Me:

Prefbar - easily enable/disable all sorts of stuff
BugMeNot - free registration sites are annoying

what am I missing out on?

IEview – Sometimes I need to open pages in IE.
Image Zoom – Adds image zoom functions to the context menu.
Compact Menu – Puts all menu-bar menus into a single menu to save space.
Toolbar Enhancements - Adds additional toolbar options. Possibly similar to your Prefbar, not sure.
All-In-One Gestures – Mouse gestures are cool.
FLST – When closing one tab, the focus is returned to the last tab to have focus instead of the tab just to the left of the one closed.
Single Window – Forces pages that would normally open a new window to open in a new tab.
Flowing Tabs – Allows the browser to add multiple rows of tabs instead of making tabs smaller and smaller.
Tab Clicking Options – Allow you to define what will happen when you double click a tab. For example, I have mine set to close on double-click.
Super DragAndGo – Allows for saving of pictures by dragging, text search by dragging, and link load in a background tab by dragging.
External Application Buttons – Lets you add buttons to the toolbar to open other programs.
Send To – Let’s you highlight text and then send it to a text file using the context menu.
EMbuttons – Let’s you add buttons to open the extensions and themes dialogs.
Foxy Tunes – Let’s you control a variety of media player (Winamp, WMPlayer, etc.)
QuickNotes – Sort of like post-it notes for your browser

Most of mine are just to make browsing simpler, but there are extensions for web development, site mirroring, and much more. It's just a matter of looking through the forum and finding what you like/need.

I also read Extensions - MozillaZine Forums, which often gives you the preview releases and 'first shots' at new extensions before they get listed elsewhere. Also, there's good communications with the extension vendors there for tracking down bugs.

And if you guys haven't been using the nightly builds, hoo boy, there's some good fixes in there. For instance, you won't need Single Window anymore. Still some things in flux, but the current expected final release date is November 9.

My list o' extensions:
Spellbound: a spellchecker
undoclosetab: reopen the last 3 (or, if you tweak your about:config, as many as you want) closed tabs
Add Bookmark Here: places a menu option in each bookmark folder (good if you liked the way Opera handled bookmarks)
BBCode: makes it easy to bold, italic, color, etc. for your posts here.
BlankLast: if you force your tabbar to be always visible, it blanks the last tab when you close it instead of closing the browser (there's a fix for this in the nightlies, but it doesn't quite work right yet)
BugMeNot: described above
Duplicate Tab: copy the current tab to a new window, or new tab
Linky: good for opening all linked images (like in a TGP) in separate tabs
Make Link: see the link I put in above? Quick copy-n-paste to get a forum-coded link.
miniT: drag-n-drop to rearrange your tabs, plus scrollwheel on the tabs to switch tabs
Nuke Anything: right-click and remove anything on the web page
Dict: select a word, get a pop-up with the definition.

Yeah, that's a good forum too, especially for bugs. As far as the nightly builds, I haven't been using them, but I try to keep up with the news on them. I heard about the Single Window thing, and I understand there have been about 100 bug fixes just since Version 1.0PR. That's pretty sweet.

The only problem I have with Mozilla is I'm using dial-up on ancient phone lines for the time being and it seems to time-out alot more than IE, is there anyway to adjust the time it gives a website to respond?

Found this:

You can increase the time before a timeout in about:config under network.http.request.timeout, although the default should be 120 seconds
Let me know if that doesn't help.

Love adblock, all in one gestures, view in IE. I've been disappointed with Bugmenot, seems most big websites have caught on. Still good for little local papers and news stations though.
