TigerDirect, ATACOM
Has anyone ever done business with www.tigerdirect.com or www.atacom.com? Their prices are excellent, and I don't expect to have problems, but in case I do I'd like to know if they are halfway decent on warranties and such.
also, is www.googlegear.com any better? How about www.newegg.com ?

Didn't think I'd ever find myself in agreement with Tha' Dude on anything - Newegg has always worked great for me - they are very fast on getting stuff out and I've never had a problem with anything I've bought from them.

NewEgg seems to have very cheap prices;
also, they're rated highly with the Better Business Bureau and even a member of that organization (a rarity in this industry, only two businesses I've ever seen in the comp biz in the BBB are them and Western Digital). However, there are some things on which TigerDirect's prices simply can't be beat, so I'd like to know how they are.

Newegg has never done me wrong. (this is a text version of the "thumbs up" icon). I used Tigerdirect once, good price on what I bought, but (here we go), they won't freakin leave you alone after that! Catalogs in the mail, spam on my yahoo online purchase account. Never did any business with the others you mentioned so can't say.
You might look at mwave.com also. Good prices. Customer service can be rough sometimes, but, you don't need to talk with them very often. |

I will never buy stuff from tigerdirect again! The reason behind this is if you get any type of bad mobo or processor (with warranty of course) and if you get one that is bad it's the biggest god damn pain in the ass trying to return it. First you have to call tiger...then you have to call the manufacturer and then call back to tiger and then mail the damn thing in. For most stuff from tiger for the wait + shipping it isn't worth it. Not a happy camper

Newegg is the best. Googlegear is just below Newegg. As for Tiger, Ive bought thousands of dollars from them in the past, and the only problem I ever had with them was like merker said, dead mobos.

A smart buyer always knows that even though the retailer may get rave reviews, save yourself extra hassle by using a great credit card.
Newegg is for me, but even I have had problems with them. The winner in all this for me? American Express. Best friend when buying online. Tiger is great for prices, and that Motherboard RMA issue is simple with Amex....just challenge the charge. Amex will temporarily credit you the money so you don't suffer for it, and if the part is broken, voila you get your money back the day off instead of waiting for the rma to go through.

I don't care about the Tigerdirect spam -- I already get it.
I'm not getting a mobo/proc from them (that's newegg's job), I'm just looking at a monitor, vid card, and mp3 player. I guess I should be ok then...

I kinda look forward to the tiger direct book considering that and Cinescape are the only two things I ever get in the mail, aside from bank statements and credit card offers
I don't have any complaints about Newegg or Tigerdirect although I only ordered from Tiger Direct once and newegg a few times.

I have used newegg and tigerdirect both.. have had good luck with both
As for tigerdirect, it's actually owned by a company called Systemax. The make ok PC but they also own Gloabl computers, (tiger Direct, Global Office Furn, and about 7 or 8 other mail order companies all dealing with COmputers or office stuff. I deal directly with Global as they price match just aobut anything I can find online or in a catalog. I do a business sales rep whom I'm in very good standing with, that may help. But as for service if the other branches are any representation of the company as a whole. I'd say if teh price is right buy it.

i have no complaints from TigerDirect. Well, okay... they send out too many catalogs... once i'm tapped out of money and I can't afford to buy anything anymore.. i'm still tempted by the mags.

The real shine from tiger is their return center here in miami.
Everytime someone couldn't figure how to install that new *****, it comes here for 1/4 the price. I've built no less than 16 machines soley out of that store in the last 4 years, and if a part doesn't work (NOTHING is on warranty) then i only lost a couple bucks. It's basic economics, i take a monatery risk, and end up with some duds and some great deals. Always been worth it to me. I never expect warranties anyway from parts off pricewatch or tiger. The whole point is there cheaper because you bought OEM and didn't pay for a warranty. I laugh everytime i see someone try to return something to tiger. They usually have no comprehesion of why it was cheaper to begine with.
