Building a new computer, is this ram any good?
hey guys im running a bit low on money and just finished buying my new motherboard, so I found this ram (its corsair) http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...145-439&depa=1
Is this any good, because I need a gig and this is the most expensive Ill go. Anyway tell me what you think, and if you can find any better ram for the price let me know. |
Its probably fine--it might not overclock like a champ, but if it just plain doesnt work, NewEgg is good about RMAs...
|
That RAM will do fine, but isn't your processor an Athlon XP 3200+? You'll need 400 MHz RAM if you do have it. That PC2700 won't do...look for PC3200.

Why overclock? My processor is fine for another year :D Is the 3200xp 400fsb?
|
I'm not saying you need to OC...it's just that if you want to, you'll need really good RAM. :) Yes, the 3200+ is 400 MHz FSB.

Alright, thanx. Lazerath are you interested in 512 ram for 20 bucks? Its work in my computer not sure if it was the cause of my problems which is why im selling it for so low. Anyway its apacer pc3200 ram. Its yours if you want it. I said id give it to someone who helps and youve been great help.
Anyone else who helped me can also take it if they want, be aware though it MAY be defective. I didnt even bother checking if the ram was the problem in the computer im just getting new ram anyway. |
no one wants it? . . .I guess ill just mix it with my kingston gig and a half is better than an gig i guess

and plus, mixing two different brands of memory esp one whos name is really not known is probably a bad idea. you might get compatability issues. |
Well if anyone wants 512 for 20 bucks let me know

You can compare prices:
http://www.pricewatch.com/h/prc.aspx?i=33&a=4560&f=1 If you don't want generic brand, scroll down to bottom of page and select a higher price range, there are Kingston, Micron, Corsair, etc. |
If you do use www.pricewatch.com then check the company on www.resellerratings.com . There's a bunch of trash on Pricewatch...be careful!
