Hd not reading correct size
Friend of mine complaining to me that hes old computer dont have enough HD space....so i bring a HD to add to it....and i open hes case and see hes GD is a 8gb HD but the computer is saying its a 2 GB....Then i check bios and see its showing it 8 GB.......is there something that can do wrong in windows to make it show up as 2GB instread of 8? i dont realy wanna change the HD cuz there is alot of shit and stuff he has to keep.......

Some hds have a jumper setting to limit available space...?

The file system on it is FAT16. This limits the volume size to to GB. Change the filesystem to FAT32 or NTFS if you are using xp.

Also, if he only has created a 2 gig partition.... (which is FAT16).. he has 6 gig of unallocated space going to waste.

kk i figured it out...i got partition magic and fixed him all up....thanks for the advise guys
