How do you burn cd w/ cd playlist
Im not sure if I can explain this,
Suppose I ripped a cd and converted them to the mp3 format. Pretend I have 14 tracks and named each file in the following format: Track number-->band/artist-->song, like below. 01-Incubus-Megalomaniac.mp3 02-Incubus- 03- When I burn them using Nero cd wizard. It instead, converts them into .cda files, which is ok, however, it removes band/artist, and song from the filename, and renames them to some generic name, Track 1, Track 2, Track 3.....all the way down to Track 14. Is there anyway to burn the mp3's so that the band/artist, song title information is retained. |

Even normal CDs just show Track 1, 2, etc. when you stick them in a cd player (even if it shows song/band info for mp3 CDs). I'd say to keep the important info in the ID3 tag (?), and just burn them. A media player on a computer will either read that tag info or try a CDDB if it matches a normal album.

I've never seen a normal CD player or stereo that lists song title and band. I've always just seen track numbers. Even on regular CDs I bought (not burned). MP3 players of course show the name, and I've had some trouble with naming as well.
Only thing I can suggest is that most mp3 files have a space between the dashes. Example: 03 - Incibus - Megalomaniac.mp3 Don't know if this will help or not. Also, you mentioned converting them to mp3 format. Why do you need to do that? What do you rip them into? I use MusicMatch Jukebox to rip CDs, and it rips them straight to mp3, no questions asked. |

If you're burning an Audio CD from the MP3s in Nero just make sure you select the option for CD-Text. Your file names are still going to change to Trackx.cda but if you place that CD in a CD-Text capable drive (like most new car decks) or a PC/Mac program that reads CD-Text data you'll see all your information. I doubt (not sure, but pretty sure) that you'll be able to retain the ID3 tag info or even the file names.

One question though. It seems to only write the track name (there is no "Artist" cloumn, just "Track"), and I was wondering if there was an option I could enable to have it show both the Track name and the Artist? Or to do this, is the only way to rename all the Tracks so that they also include the artist? For instance, right now one of the songs that is showing up is "Leave." If possible I'd like it to read "Jojo - Leave." Jojo is the artist. Can this be done, or do you have to edit the track title to also include the artist to achieve this? Thanks!

On my headunit in my car it shows the artist name as well as the track names - the only time this is a problem is when there are multiple artists because it can only show one artist name for the entire CD. As you mentioned, the only workaround that I know of is renaming the tracks to include the artist names.

I guess it's not that big a deal, because I just have to rename them in the CD burn application, and not the filenames themselves. I had been using Roxio's software to burn CDs but was unable to get the info to show up when playing.. So it's nice to see Nero can do that. Thanks.

The .cda files do not really exist. Its just something windows uses to represent the different audio tracks on the CD.
There are no .cda files on a CD, they are virtual. So giving them names is impossible.
