Microphone is always on
This is pretty weird, for some reason as of last night my mic is always on, the only way I could mute it was to unplug the damn thing.
About the only thing I use the mic for is playing UT2K4, but all I get now is MASSIVE feedback as soon as I plug it in. Any thoughts? It may be realted to Vmware which I installed yesterday (and gushed about in another thread) but that might just be a conincidence. Windows XP Pro. Creative SB Live! Sound Card

If I kill it in the device manager, I would be killing the whole sound card, so the mic would be off but so would my speakers. Checking the mute box in the sound ctrl panel makes no difference.

I had that problem before as well. Here's how to fix it.
1. Open up your sound control panel. 2. Options > Properties, make sure Playback is selected. 3. Make sure 'Microphone' is selected. 4. Press ok, and the Microphone panel should show up on your control panel. 5. Mute the microphone. All this does is make it so that you can't hear what you're recording, it will still record. I remember this being very annoying, but it is easily fixable, you just have to be shown once. ![]() Good luck!
