Adware removal

I have an adware file on my computer. File name is inetadpt.dll. I am running XP, use Norton 2004, Spybot Search and Destroy, and Panicware.

My computer has been acting funky. I think it is this adware. Norton finds it but can't delete it. When I manually delete it, I lose my internet connection. Can anyone help me?

Thanks.

Hmm, on there it mentions that it could screw up your internet if removed incorrectly, but its "manual removal" instructions just say to delete inetadpt.dll. Strange.

You could just use msconfig (start -> run -> msconfig) to prevent that dll from running on startup in the first place?

also try removing the registry files (start>run>regedit)..... if your using broadband and you delete it, it could be damaging your Winsock 2.0 files, a pain in the ass to fix if you dont want to call the cable companies to come fix it... if you do delete it again and u can't get internet trying doing what they tell you to do here

thats just my 2 cents

Download a trial version of Spysweeper.

www.webroot.com

Also download this file

Run spysweeper and let it do its free update and run a scan. This will clean your system out much better then Spybot imo. If you find your internet connection is lost after a possible reboot, then run the winsockfix utility.

I agree with Silverbrain.

My Dad had a computer, and he said that his internet connection wasn't working.

I decide to run a virus scan, Norton picks up some trojans.

Then I try Spybot, it finds a few problem files.

Still the internet connection is not working. I finally decide to d/l spysweeper, since I had seen it in a magazine.

As soon as I run it, things are popping out of the woodwork. 40 traces of spyware, 24 trojans. And if you include, the 4 that Norton picked up, that brings us to 28 trojans.

After all that was cleaned everything was fixed.

Whenever, anyone has a problem w/ spyware, one of the first programs I recommend is spysweeper.
