What heatsink for an A64 3200?
Im going to buy an Athlon 64 3200 here shortly, but it appears that all of the retail boxes with HSF have disappeared, necessitating a seperate purchase. My biggest concern is noise--I dont plan on overclocking too much (if at all), but I most definitely want something quiet. Im so far out of that scene though that I have no idea where to look for such a heatsink. Any ideas?

Xoxide has some good stuff for that very purpose. I can pretty much say that all of this stuff is probably better than the stock HSF you would get anyways.
Directron's is pretty good as well, though probably not as deep. 1CoolPC, while incredibly plain/ugly in it's design, is also a decent site. You could always check out Pricewatch, but approach with caution, and use Resellerratings in conjunction with any searches that Pricewatch might lead you to. If they ain't got a high rating (7 and above), don't do it. |
well if you want practically silent... and dont plan on moving your computer a ton... this thing is insanely awesome
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...118-109&depa=0 my friend has one... on the higher speed setting you cant even here it over his low speed 120mm fan and it keeps his cpu really cool problem is its reallly heavy so you gotta be careful moving the computer around... and its huge... so it might not fit in all cases/motherboards... |
I have this: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...106-042&depa=0
Like it a lot. Also, it can be used for XP, Athlon 64, or P4. |
