Windows crashing
I'm starting to get annoyed with my windows 2000 installation. Its always very sluggish when I start up at first after everything loads, but then settles into being ok after a while of use. this goes from opening programs to browsing. Then things get to normal.
And I have problems with when I open mp3s with winamp it will crash explorer.exe. it always seems to be random. I think I need to reformat. Anyone have any other ideas? |
Maybee a reformat will help but sounds like a memory issue to me though

Their alot of bugs in Windows 2000. Do you have all the update? I think that their up to SP3 on Windows update. SP3 fixed alot of the bugs. How much ram does your PC have? Windows 2000 uses alot of ram. Have you checked to see what programs are starting up when you boot? Window 2000 doesn't have msconfig, but you can use this program Start Up Panel its a reay good program.

The sluggish part at bootup is because it is still booting. Even though you have your GUI 2K is still doing lots of important stuff in the background and the more apps you have set to autolaunch the longer it will take.
