Problems with my 120gb external maxtor

hey guys well i got a external 120gb one touch maxtor about 4 months ago and it has given me a few problems. the first time i was trasnferring some episodes formt he external to my internal and it said something about "delayed write failed,the files has been deleted" and it deleted those files form my external, so i got sxrewed over. and the 2nd time was yesterday, when i was sharing some stuff on a program and suddenly when i exit the prog my comp freezes and everything on my external gets erased, so now im here pissed and i dont know what to do. and to telly ou the truth i dont think ill buy something else form maxtor ever again.

How do you have it connected to your computer? Make sure its Firewire or USB 2.0. Avoid USB 1.1.

I got the same error message when transferring files between workstations at work. If you search with Google for "delayed write failed" you'll find a lot of information, since it seems to be a pretty common problem with Windows XP and 2000. I assume you are running either one of those operating systems.
