double clicking mouse
 

ok so about 2 months ago i noticed that occasionally my mouse would double click... and gradually its gotten worse... now its happening more often then not...

when it first started happening i tried taking the mouse apart and cleaning it but that didnt help at all...

the mouse is a microsoft intellimouse 3.0
its using a USB port.

anyone have any ideas on fixing this?

Same thing was happening to my intellimouse. Did a lot of net searching and never found a fix. So finally got frustrated enough to head to the store and pick up the Logitech MX Duo that alot of people seem to rave about. Must say so far im very impressed.

Never had a wireless keyboard or mouse in the past. So wasnt to sure how much I would like it.

Going out on a limb here, but have you tried installing a new driver?

ive got the newest intellimouse driver...

and i just tried reinstalling it... didnt change anything...

Yeah I have a spastic middle mouse button on my Optical. It gets annoying at times but I just have to middle click in the active window and it fixes itself. It was much worse in the fruity OSes like ME and XP.
