Windows Clock to Fast
Does anybody know how to make the clock that shows up in windows xp slow down a little bit. Mine runs like 5-7 mins fast every day and I have to go in and update it automatically all the time. It is starting to get on my nerves. I remember seeing something about this at one time, but cant find it any more.

Does the clock get 5-7 minutes faster everyday? Meaning if you don't fix it for 2 days then it will be 10-14 minutes fast.
If that's not the case then the problem is that your computer is syncronizing with an internet clock. So what's happening is that everyday you "fix" the time and then the next day windows checks its time againt an internet clock and "fixes" it. By default it should set itself with time.windows.com. That should give you the correct time. You can check this by double clicking the clock on the lower right hand part of your screen. You should then see a window with a little calender and clock on it. One of the tabs at the top of this window says internet time. Click it. If you don't want your time to be syncronised with microsofts internet clock (this is the correct time by the way) the uncheck the box that says "Automatically syncronize with an Internet time server. |

Here is a list of time servers. Pick one close to your location and write the adderss down. Go to a command prompt. Type the following: Quote:

does it get 5-7 minutes fast every time you shut down or reboot? windows can get its time from bios, so double check your time there too. :)

You motherboard could also be screwed up. I had to replace a motherboard because it wasn't able to keep the time. It would sync with the internet and quickly screw up.

Hardwareguy XP Home does the internet time tab.

I have XP Pro, and I have a tab called "Internet Time" in my "Adjust Date / Time" screen.

If your using an Nforce2 motherboard they are terrable time keepers. I highly recommend using this free file, its small, stable and far more reliable than the built in winxp clock sync.

I had a similar problem with my (new) motherboard, a P4P800. Turns out the battery was damaged. A new one solved it.
