My new hot rod (computer)

After geting a few orders into Newegg.com I got this last week:

Windows XP SP1
AMD 64 FX 53
Asus SK8V mobo w/SATA Raid
512mb Mushkin DDR3200 ECC Registered ram (soon to be 1gig)
73gig WD SATA 10,000rpm
200gig Seagate 7200rpm
LiteOn DVD-R/+R 8X
LiteOn DVD Rom X16
Sound Blaster 5.1 (only temp till I shop around some more)
Creative Inspire T5400 5.1 speakers.
Cooler Master Wave aluminum case
Enermax Noisetaker 600W Power Supply
ATI X800 Pro 256mb w/ dual Sony 17" LCD's 15ms 1280 X 1024
Logitech wireless MX mouse/keyboard combo.

(edit: forgot the keyboard/mouse)

I am so impressed with this machine. I have not seen such a performance increase since I went from a 400mhz to a 1.2 T-Bird. I went from it to a +2500 and I wasn't blown away. This beast plays Far Cry timedemo at 92fps avg. UT2k4 plays like butter too(120fps@1280x1024) I just need to check out the dvd burning and video compression/editing stuff and see how well it does with that.

The Cooler Master Wave case is the best case I've ever had. It's a work of art in and out.

Kick ass system I must say

I'd say get more RAM... but you're already ahead of me on that much.

Beautiful setup; how much did it cost?

Just over $3100 +taxes

I paid $479 for the ATI card from Newegg which is more than what was announced. Best deal I got was for the LCD's. $385 at a computer fair. Newegg had them for $419 plus shipping

Ok, here's the pix:

My desk. Yes thats my Xbox running on the second monitor. I have a switch/convertor that puts in on that screen with sound comming from the PC. Under the new one is the old one which is connected via KVM switch cept for that second mouse.

Front:

Inside:

What's neat about the case is the blue light and the top access to the usb/firewire ports. I'll put more Cooler Master cables inside later. No window so no need to get too fancy now.

Great setup, wow. Puts things in perspective seeing how I am just finishing up putting together a $300 cheapo box for my brother.

Hows that Logitech mouse working out? I do a lot of gaming and tried the regular wireless and hated it. Lagged to much.

Very nice setup, and highly awsome computer. I'm just a little worried about the xbox on the lcd monitor. lcd's aren't meant for fast action screens, and you risk burning it out. That's why lcd's aren't recommended for computer gamers.

Why the two monitors?

I have a 21" Sony flat screen that I use. I've recently bought a 19" TFT which I haven't even unpacked yet.

But I can't imagine using two monitors. Doesn't that make your brain hurt?

Running two separate monitors is great! I like having a search of MP3s on my 19 inch CRT and dragging them to NERO on my 17 inch CRT. Also, I can run Motherboard Monitor on the 17" while playing UT 2004 on the 19".

Most excellent application of dual screen technology. I remember when I found a 15" HP monitor in a "don't throw it away" bin to be wasted in a donation, so I plugged that biznatch in, fired it up, and started some good ol' dual screen action.

I had some extra monitors awhile back and I tried it. Since then I haven't like to go back to just one. It's just more realestate to play with that's all. And with ATI cards you can play your game in full screen on one monitor and watch irc or your instant messenger on the other

The Xbox wont hurt the lcd cause of the adapter I'm using degrades the signal a bit. It's not a pure connection.

Boy - clean up the inside of that case! It's a mess!

Killer set up though! It's a lot of what I'm going to get, but I'm holding out for PCI-Express.

Fast action won't burn out an LCD - you'll just miss some frames being drawn (even if rendered by your video card) due to bandwidth limitations of the LCD. No harm done.

i hadnt read the entire stats before i read your price and was aghast at how much you spent, but then seeing the double LCDs, I must exclaim you have a sweet setup there

i currently have one 17" CRT.. but i work on 2 19" CRTs generally, and I absolutely adore it. I want to go to a dual monitor setup sometime, but i can't afford it right now.
