DVD's, Games:: PAL > NTSC
I've recently been to Thailand and have purchased a number of PS2 games and some DVD's bearing the PAL label. In the past these have caused me grief as my ancient TV can only display NTSC correctly.
I wanted to know if there's an easy way to convert from PAL to NTSC. I know newer TVs have internal selectors for PAL or NTSC but that would put me through the hassle of selling my current then looking for a new. It would also help if I choose to move around my PS2 if someone else doesnt have a TV capable of playing PAL. Any insight would be great, also keep in mind I'm a poor college student not wanting to spend more than ~$30 on such a device. Thanks. |
I have a DVD player that plays multi region DVDs and has a PAL to NTSC decoder and does it on the fly.
It cost me $120 to get a new DVD player, I don't know of a cheaper solution. |
In addition to what Cynthetiq said I had a TV a few years ago that would play both PAL and NTSC. But this doesn't solve your problem because of your price range. Go check Radio Shack, eBay, or Best Buy, if they don't have what you are looking for I don't know where you are going to find it...

If you have a DVD burner, you can sometimes convert a PAL ps2 game into NTSC. Sometimes there are some problems like the video not being vertically alligned correctly, but it sometimes works perfectly. Give me a minute, and I'll find the name of the program that does it.
EDIT: It's called Adrenaline Patcher (ADRPatcher) but I can't find a working link for it. Give me another second and I'll post a link. EDIT2: http://rawhide.homelinux.org:1201/bi...dr_patcher.zip http://rawhide.homelinux.org:1201/bi...her_update.zip |
