Any good forum script recommendations?
I'm webmaster of www.broadcaster.org.uk, and on there, we run a forum. Have a look if you want:
http://www.broadcaster.org.uk/sectio...d/wwwboard.htm Problem is, after a lot of work, it's currently very high in google, (Yay!) so a lot of spammers are finding it as well as legitimate users (Not so yay...). It's currently running on the wwwboard script from nms (http://nms-cgi.sourceforge.net/ but I'm having to delete about 20 posts per day from it now as lots of sad people seem to think it is funny to post rubbish and links to porn sites etc. So, I want a script that:

Allows anyone to post, but requires my authorisation before they appear

Allows 'registered users' (via username/password or anything that works really) to post and have their posts appear instantly - I have several people who regularly post to the forum and are very useful contributors to the questions I have posed by others

Does not look anything like a "You must register to use this" forum, so it wont scare people off

Isn't a massive forum script with a front end where you can choose from many boards - I want it a simple, "you click on the link to the forum, you get to read the posts and type in your contibutions" type of thing. Something similar to what I have already, but just more secure.

Ideally, is free

That's a lot to ask, and so I really need your help in finding something that would be suitable, if it exists. I'm happy with cgi/perl editing BTW, although to a not too complex extent. I've never used php or SQL or anything like that, but am willing to learn. I'd like to avoid javascript as there is no assurance of it working in all browsers. I've looked at phpBB - it looks like it has potential and could be made to work, but I'm wondering if anyone has any more suggestions. I've looked at proboards, but they are remotely hosted and carry advertising, which I don't want - My site is, at present, completely advert free, and I'd like to keep it that way, especially on a forum about such a sensitive topic. Thus, my good friends here at TFP: Help please?

Best free ones are Invision and phpbb. PHPbb is very easy to admin, and I've heard a few good things about Invision Power Board. But if you want true quality you're gonna have to shell out for the Rolls Royce of forums-vB3. Moderation and Administration are very straightforward and most tasks are easy once you learn the control panel, which is massive. It's easily twice as feature-laden as PHPbb admin panel.
