You have until 8am central time...
Hello all,
I'm upgrading a previous system for my fiance`, and I need some quick advice. All that is being saved from the donor machine will be, DVD+/-RW, CD-RW, TV Capture, ZIP-100, 40GB HDD, Floppy. I will be purchasing a new AMD Proc/Mobo/Ram, hoping that the mobo has Video/Sound/Nic/USB2.0. I will need at LEAST 512MB ram. What kind of mobo/chip combos are well liked around here? I was guessing an XP2000 chip, Asus mobo w/ onboard everything, a nice case with >300W P.S. Any suggestions? You have unil 8am tomorrow. Oh, and I want to keep the price at or around $250-275 ;) -SF |

That looks good Lasereth however I would suggest getting the 2500(+$23) with matching ram(+$4) to get some more perfomance. Of course it isn't necessary if you are not gaming. Which the video card suggests.
$98.00 - Crucial 184 Pin 512MB DDR PC-2700 - OEM $80.00 - AMD Athlon XP 2500+ "Barton", 333 FSB, 512K Cache Processor - Retail That would bring you up to $252.00. Shipped inside the US is $15 bringing you to $ 267.00 |
Not sure about the processor... you won't NEED the 2500, but it will provide a little more longevity in the machine. Up to you. Otherwise, that hardware looks good.
