IE sucks.. Anyone have a solution to this?

WTF is with IE? I hate it.

My stupid page history bar when I open IE is always at the bottom, it's annoying. It's not really important or anything but it's still poopy scoopy.

Even if I clear the bar and my pages build back up, it still does it.

IE sucks? A solution you say?

How's about Opera, an alternative browser? Or one of the many others? :)

tkkfan 04-23-2004 11:00 PM

Try crazybrowser

It is based on IE, but better, alot better.

Go to the website and see fer yourself

Or Firefox, the latest incarnation of the Mozilla browser.

I've switched to firefox, and love it! Won't let you down.

http://www.myie2.com

By far the best browser, also based on IE.

mtsgsd 04-24-2004 09:25 AM

FireFox. Can't go wrong.

the_marq 04-24-2004 09:27 AM

I keep trying to change browsers but am still with IE. Old habits die hard I guess.

When I use opera I miss the shortcut keys in IE like 'ctrl-enter' and such.

JohnnyRoyale 04-24-2004 01:08 PM

What page history bar? can you put up a screen cap? I checked an IE I have here, I can't figure out how to get the history to move around.

Safari baby! Once you go Mac you never go back!

flagpole 04-24-2004 04:51 PM

I prefer Avant Browser myself. Its just a shell for IE, so you get all the compatability of IE with stuff like tabbed windows and popup blockers from the other popular browsers

Rawrr 04-24-2004 05:00 PM

Firefox is so hot!! :D

k1ng 04-24-2004 09:19 PM

Yeah, Firefox + needed extensions is the way to go.

I'm visiting my parents right now and they are using IE. It's crazy how much I rely on Firefox's features. I can't get by with IE anymore :/

hellkite 04-25-2004 03:20 AM

i gotta agree with the others and say firefox rules

ever since my friend got me hooked on firebird a year ago i've never gone back :)

Sorry, just remined me of that Snatch quote.

Just another thread for firefox. Most of these " help with IE/other browser" threads just turn into a bunch of suggestions for other browsers. Maybe we should sticky a "What Browser To Use?" thread.

You're not missing out on anything. I've tried the alternative browsers. Including the super duper God's gift to mankind that is Firefox. They're slow, clunky, and don't render pages properly (which is probably because they use stricter HTML parsing than IE, but still). IE has its flaws, but it works better than anything else I've encountered.

BigGov 04-25-2004 08:37 AM

Hmm...That's strange because for me Firefox is fast, smooth and renders 99% of pages perfectly. It also has tabbed browsing, perfect pop-up blocking (I can't remember the last time I've seen one) and an integrated Google search bar.

I agree completely. I've tried multiple browsers besides IE, and every damned one of them fucks up webpage layouts, renders pages slowly or inconsistently, or simply doesn't load some pages *at all.* IE has NEVER given me problems through at least 5 years of use. If you configure it correctly, it's as simple and straightforward as the best of third-party browsers.
