running pan for linux under windows
pan for linux will run under windows using the gtk-2 runtime environment, as will gaim, but i have encountered some problems. for some reason, i can't run gaim (a linux multi-instant messenging client) with pan (a newsgroup reader--my fav), even though they run on the same gtk environment. i've tried reinstalling both, they both, during the install, ask "do you want to replace libatk-1.0-0.dll with libatk-1.0-0.dll". they're the same version, i used a file comparison prog i wrote to compare them and every bit is exactly the same, but for some reason if i install the gaim version, pan won't run, and if i install the pan version, gaim won't run. this is the only difference in the runtime environment, the gaim or pan version of the exact same file. also, when running pan, when i try to save directly to my external hard drive, the program uses my bandwidth to supposedly download the files, but the files are nowhere to be found on either hard drive. once again, i don't have a clue. suggestions, comments?
