Making a PC a firewall?
The PC is worth 1 dollar on Ebay literally but I need to get it for a computer mod. A friend suggested I use it was a firewall but other then knowing people use PCs as a firewall, thats all we know...
Simple question though. What do I actually need to make it a firewall? Any new hardware? Software? |

In order to make a computer into a firewall, all you really need are a CD drive (to load the OS), two network cards, and then the basic stuff (motherboard, RAM, CPU). You don't even need a harddrive - though in that case you'll want a floppy drive to store configuration data on.
You can get "OS on a CD" packages like Knoppix or Smoothwall and boot the computer with that and set it up.
