Type this in Start > Run...

telnet://towel.blinkenlights.nl

LOL that is awesome

I got that in another pc forum.

Lasereth 04-01-2004 03:26 PM

Was it supposed to do something? It just sat there, and then command prompt disappeared. Did I miss something?

nanofever 04-01-2004 03:28 PM

Lets see...

Rookie + website I have never seen before + telnet = not a bloody chance in hell.

Slayer 04-01-2004 03:29 PM

Don't click on it. Copy " telnet://towel.blinkenlights.nl " and paste it on Run. It suppose to show an ASCII version of Star Wars Episode IV.

Kaos 04-01-2004 03:39 PM

It just said connecting to Blinkenlights for a bit then the window closed itself.

Infernal 04-01-2004 04:26 PM

It's the whole fucking movie.

bltzkriegmcanon 04-01-2004 06:08 PM

Good God. No time for watching that tonight! Nice find, though.

Homey_V 04-01-2004 06:46 PM

I saw this a little while back... I watched the whole thing... Very well done.

Blistex 04-01-2004 06:58 PM

That is the most impressive ascii movie I've ever seen! About 2x better than the matrix one.

The whole movie? damn I only saw around 10 mins then I stopped it. Maybe I'll finish it later.

Tempboy 04-01-2004 08:01 PM

Hahah nice... now THAT is a true nerd... :)

JohnnyRoyale 04-01-2004 08:25 PM

Someone has WAAAAAY too much time on their hands...but it's still cool.

punx1325 04-02-2004 01:48 AM

I just clicked on it and it worked. I don't know what's worse, that I took the time to watch the entire thing or that someone took the time to make the entire thing.

flamingpeach 04-02-2004 01:55 AM

Wow, this is great, I'm impressed!

Marburg 04-02-2004 09:02 AM

That's insane.
Heh. I'm glad I lost the connection to the host or I probably would've watched the whole thing.

Bill O'Rights 04-02-2004 09:27 AM

Impressive...but, I gotta agree with the "WAAAAAY too much time on their hands".

sailor 04-02-2004 12:15 PM

Most impressive. Me likes.

But seriously, that had to take a shit ton of time to make.

dnd 04-02-2004 01:21 PM

redarrow 04-02-2004 04:43 PM

Lol the wonders of Telnet

Rangsk 04-03-2004 12:56 AM

Should have been SSH! Don't want hackers peeking into my StarWars watching!! [/sarcasm]

bodypainter 04-03-2004 08:22 AM

Clicking the link worked for me (opened a terminal window and started playing).

Anyway, pretty cool!

manalone 04-03-2004 04:17 PM

http://www.asciimation.co.nz/
This is the original version, in a java applet.

moonstrucksoul 04-03-2004 04:40 PM

the force is on his side, very cool.

Latch 04-03-2004 05:08 PM

Ohhh.. somebody ring the MPAA! This is definite copyright infringement!

Pretty cool though hehe.

Date the Banana 04-03-2004 07:32 PM

Wow, just, wow. Any guesses as to how many weeks/months that must have taken? I'm leaving it up on the screen all day, just peeking in on it every once in a while. It just keeps going...

guthmund 04-03-2004 09:47 PM

This is so freakin' cool.

I am ashamed to admit I was actually voicing some of the parts.....:)

So do you know how long did it take to do that?

I saw someone said it took 5 years in another forum but I don't believe him though.

spived2 04-04-2004 09:03 AM

That's pretty cool. I didnt have the time to watch the whole thing, but I'm guessing I wouldnt have been dissapointed.

Spherion 04-06-2004 01:52 PM

Woah. Impressive. And I thought I got bored at work!!

JohnnyRoyale 04-06-2004 03:52 PM
