Video Card Question
I'm using a Gainward Geforce 4 Ti 4200, so I'm wondering where I should get my drivers from
The gainward site www.gainward.com Or the official Nvidia site www.nvidia.com ?!??!? Which one do you think I should get it from? |
look for the point release. whichever is greater.
otherwise, I would suggest trying both and doing something like a ut23k benchmark on each to see which gets you better fps. |
the manufacturer's driver has the "potential" for greater performance because they tweak several things on the card. however, I usually just download the Nvidia divers because I'm lazy. do what termnl recommended though.
nVidia releases driver versions more often so I think you could probably get better drivers from there even without the card-specific tweaks.
why would you not want to use nvidia's drivers? a great site for drivers official and beta can be found here: www.reactorcritical.com
if you're overclocking, gainward, if not, nvidia
use riva tuner to overclock
like bahula04 said get gainward driver if you overclock your pc (their driver has excellent overclocking feature). if you don't overclock use detonator cuz it's always the newest version
