Mozilla=glitchiest browser ever
I downloaded Mozilla because everyone raved about it being better than IE. The tabbing is cool and all, but I'll be damned if this thing doesn't freeze up every 15 minutes. Plus it runs java REALLY slow and I needed to download plugins left and right. Hardly worth it.
|
Hmm. Do you want help, or are you done with Moz entirely and are just expressing your opinion?
|
help i guess

(I won't be here much longer today, but...)
Mozilla or Mozilla Firefox? Which version? What operating system? |
I tried out Firefox for the same reasons, everyone praising it but I got fed up with it and went back to IE. I never had problems with IE before so I was going on the praise of others. It never lived up to its hype.
|
In SecretMethod's firefox thread I have a question that I still need help on, if anyone has any ideas.
|
I use firefox on both my PC and my Mac.
I love firefox for PC, but its terrible for the mac. REALLY buggy, crashes all the time. Ignores me when i attempt to close a java script popup (such as the new PM ones). The address window doesn't update, i can't seem to get links to open in new tabs...its terrible :( But yeah, its my favorite browser ever for PC :D |
I use opera.
http://www.opera.com/ IE is also great, but I like the tabs and the progress of pages loading. Plus you dont have to type the www or .com. Never tried Firefox before. |
I have Mozilla 1.4
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win 9x 4.90; en-US; rv:1.4) Gecko/20030624 Windows ME. |

I agree ME is your problem.
ME was the buggiest of all of the Micro$haft OS's. I have used Mozilla for the past 2 years on my home workstation, laptop and 2 work PCs and have not had a single issue. The 2 home PCs use Win2k and the work ones use XP pro. |
Now someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but Firefox still has not had an offical release as they are still working on it. I personally use Mozilla 1.6 and I love it. The only problem I have it are with external app's loading, but that's because I'm to lazy to configure the couple lines.
I was going to try Firefox, but I wanted something that was more stable, so I got 1.6 and I liked some of the themes in 1.6 better. |
what's the skinny on the avaunt slimbrowser? I have it, and I love it; no pop-ups, tabbed browsing, all the goodies. Why is there never mention of it whenever browser threads come up?

Can someone tell me why occasionally firefox will tell me "The file / cannont be found. Please check the location and try again."
This occurs when I hit a bookmark, that worked ten seconds ago, then it will NOT go to the page of the bookmark. Even if I type in the address, it's a no-go. I can even google the Fark, the bookmark in question, click the link to it, and I get the error message. Oh, but it opens fine in IE while firefox is throwing its hissy. Yes, I opened and closed the fox a few times. No good. What the hell is that about? |
Odd, probably a bug of some sort. a.k.a. don't forget what sailor posted above ;)
Anyways, it's always good to be proactive and <a href="http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/enter_bug.cgi?format=guided">Submit a Bug</a> when you come across one! :) |

Id also like to echo what others said and check the buglist if you come across something. At the least it will let you know if it is something the developers know about. I had a bug back in 0.6 that caused the browser to crash whenever it read a list. I reported the bug, found that there were several other reports of said bug, and got an email when they found and fixed the bug. It was a nice experience, one that I would repeat--except I havent found another bug since ;)

How does one do the nightlies? Thanks.

Index of /pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/latest-trunk I recommend visiting the following forum page first, where a guy named Peter(6) puts up a nice recap of the current Windows build, detailing the fixes and regressions contained in that build. His thread will also have a link to that nightly build. Firefox Builds - MozillaZine Forums New windows builds are generally released between noon and 1 pm EST. The Peter(6) thread will let you know if people are noticing any new wonky problems. The 20030331 build may have something wrong with it, based on this thread; I'm personally having no problems with the 20030330. |
