3DSMAX problems
I was hoping some computer buffs could help me out with my problem. I fool around in 3Dsmax, and good fun is had, until I close the program. It's almost as if it were still running- memory is still loaded down and my system crawls until I restart. My system is not really meant for graphics intensive programs, but it's not too shabby and it does the job. Until of course I close the program, where my system slows down a ridiculous rate and I can't get any other work done. This is stupid, and i'm hoping there is a better fix than to restart the computer. Help!
System Specs: family Untel 2532 Mhz processsor 512 Mb of DDR? RAM Windows XP, current 60Gb HD 14Gb HD

Give this a shot:
Before you start 3DSM, right-click your taskbar, and go to "Task Manager" Start your 3DSM and play around for a few minutes, and then close it down. Go to your system tray and double click on to the task manager icon, and go to processes, and find out which process is taking up the most processor usage and memory. This may give you a cule as to what is using the memory or processor time. -SF |

I had a problem with 3dsmax being incredibly slow right when launched. I'm pretty sure it had something to do with Norton. Try disabling the auto-protect before you launch max and see if that helps.

SF: I already tried that, but none of the processes seem to be taking up much usage. Filemonitor is telling me that explorer is being accessed alot, along with "winlogon". Hmmm this program is now loading down the proccessor. Can anyone give some clue as to what winlogon does? I'm going to shut it down, and see what happens.
Well i can't shut it down. Obviously windows needs it to work. What connection would this program have with 3DSMAX where is would use so much CPU power when i close the program?

I have to stop doing stupid things like not doing a simple search for my problem from the manufacturer.
Thank you very much SaltFish.

it leaks memory, just reboot your system after you use it, no way around it really.
i use max alot (or did) and i had to reset my system after i used it.

I have this very annoying max problem i hope someone can figure out. I have these bounding boxes type things in my scene that won't go away. I did check the properties and it's not the bounding box problem. I belive it was a sort of hot key mabey, but i am unsure. Here is a pic of my problem, nothing in the scene is curently sellected. Sorry about the size of the picture.
