"SystemInfo" displays and then closes
I like using Run>systeminfo to check stats on my computer, but for the last 3 weeks or so it closes the instant that the info is displayed. It never did it before, so I don't know what's up. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, how do I fix it?
Thanks. :) |
Mine does that too, BoCo.
No worries, easy to resolve. Go to Run and type "cmd". That'll give you a little console window. Then from there type your "systeminfo" command. That should hold it on the screen for you. Oh, and type "exit" when you want to close the console. |
Works!! Thanks for the tip. :D

You're most welcome. That's an expected behavior of many Windows console applications, so that sort of tip may be useful in other situations.

Yeah I was wondering how to make it so console apps will stay open after they are done running, ugh.

i think i know why.
you have set msdos to close itself after running a comand (or called 'close on exit' anyway, here is how you can fix that. you used to be able to go into properties of a dos window and then edit that option in win98, but xp i dont know. |
you need a pif file to be able to do close on exit, which would require one for each, or possibly one for just cmd.exe but thats unlikely since its executed directly.
not sure of a global close on exit feature on XP, so other solutions are create a bat file , use systeminf.bat or such , if you use systeminfo.bat it'll run the exe first, even if its in the path first, and if you rename the exe it will likely put it back with WFP @systeminfo.exe pause or use cmd /ksysteminfo |
