pc locking up after installing ram

I just installed 512 Kingston DDR RAM, and my computer seems to be locking up. Its strange though, it only locks up when I have winamp running. I dont think its winamp cuz it never did this before.

Can RAM cause lockups like this? Or should I look for other problems?

You might wanna try going here http://www.simmtester.com/

Saw it in an earlier thread about RAM causing lockup in BF, so I thought I'd suggest it.

may want to check speeds of the RAM, making sure it was the right stuff for your board. Does it do it if your run games or bigger programs or just Winamp?

Run a memory tester on it. Memtest86 is a good one.

I remember reading about this problem in the WinAmp forums. If I remember right, it's actually a WinAmp problem, so your RAM is probably fine! www.winamp.com Check out their forums; finding that problem shouldn't be too hard with a search. Good luck!
