Which is best for overclocking?

So I'm about to build a kick ass machine, but I don't want to overspend on the CPU. I've got an Abit IC7-MAX3 motherboard ready to go as well as a hefty amount of Corsair memory. I've pretty much got the CPU narrowed down to either a P4 2.4C or a P4 2.8C. Can anyone tell me which is more stable to overclock and which will hit the highest speeds?

This is my first attempt at overclocking, but I've made sure to buy components that are friendly towards it...

Thanks!

For overclocks AMD kicks the shit out of Intel. Corsair XMS memory is great for OC'ing. Kingston HyperX is ok, but I would choose Corsair myself.

Well... I am the right person to answer this question! Why you ask? Because I owned a 2.8C (before I accidentally broke it) and now have a 2.4C. I think the highest i got the 2.8 stable was around 3.2 with a stock cooler. After my accident I relaced it with a 2.4c because they are so damn cheap nowadays. I can get the 2.4 up to 2.8 with a Zalman 92 mm cooler. I personally didn't notice any difference between the two processors while playing games like CS and BF1942 and right now I don't even have my 2.4C overclocked. Eventually I am going to replace my 2.4 wit ha 3.4 when those become cheap... which might be awhile.

I've always heard that the 2.4 C core is the best P4 OC'ing chip out there. I don't have any experience, but I've simply heard from various forums and sites that the 2.4 C is very easily OC'ed. It's also relatively cheap. It's basically the Athlon XP 2500+ of Intel processors.

Thanks all. I ended up going with the 2.8, as it was only $20 more - and I'm only planning to take things up to 3.0-3.2. wraithhibn, the Corsair's in the house already. 2 GB worth! Can I get a geeky w00t?

Edit: My motherboard required the Intel choice, thus the dissing of AMD this time around.
