84 infected files
Alright, so I just scanned my computer for viruses with Trend Micro's House Call on their webpage because I had a suspicion that the trend micro pc cilin 2002 on my computer wasn't finding the viruses that I had. Anyway, turns out I've got 84 infected files on my computer, every single one of them is either "non cleanable" or "cannotaccess." I have no idea how to get rid of them other than just deleting all of those files. I've got: worm_dada.a, bkdr_sdbot.05.ap, troj_winpup.b, worm_spybot.gen, worm_agobot.gen, troj_hidewind.a, bat_bhirot.a, and bkdr_bhirot.a. @_@. Pretty annoying because I swear I just ran this thing a week ago, and I had the same problems then, and it didn't catch any of them. The worm_dada.a is by far the most frequent problem. It seems like it attacks a lot of my .exe files and makes them .jpg files? or something. That's how they appear on my computer. Anyway, I'm coming to you guys in hopes that I can get some sort of help other than just "delete all the files", because in some cases that's just not possible. Thanks in advance everybody. =p

If it was me---I would stop any exsisting virus checker and download AGV from lavasoft.com....it is free and I have found it to be very reliable for the last 3 years...
If it finds a virus or trojan, it will take it out, if possible. if not you will have to look at the file and determine if it is an essential file that is infected or one the virus put on there...You may have to use the EXTRACT command if it is an essential file... let us know how it is going... and run with a virus checker---IT IS FREE..... edit: just did a google on one of your virus...check this link.. http://computercops.biz/postp34703.html it will tell you how to take them out...and if you have restore software, you must turn it off first or you may just put them back on...these sound like some bad doods on your system...you may have to google and destroy them one at a time...LOL Last edited by viejo gringo; 02-14-2004 at 08:34 AM.. |

I know this wont help you now but always back up important files to CD or DVD off the local machine. If I catch a bug I do a clean install then restore my backed up files. I do this about twice a year anyway. Keeps the system speedy.

Hey again guys...I checked out the website pointed out above, and I ran the panda antivirus online check. That thing is amazing. It found two and a half times as many viruses as the trend micro did (180+) and it also was able to "disinfect" or whatever every single one of them but 3 files. I now only have 3 files infected with 3 separate viruses: TROJ_WINPUP.B, TROJ_HIDEWND.A, and BKDR_BHIROT.A. I'm remarkably excited now because I can actually open windows task manager and system tools etc. now. =) Thanks a ton, I hardly even care about these other guys since I don't notice what they're doing to me. =p But if there's a nice way to get rid of them I wouldn't mind hearing it. Thanks all!
