Firebird question
I just got mozilla firebird...so far, it's great.
I just have one question: whenever I click on a link why does it display a bunch of random characters instead of popping open Window's Media Player like IE does? Sorry if this has been discussed...I searched and nothing turned up. |
I assume you are using the current release version (0.7)? This is because the MIME type of the file isn't correctly set by the server; it appears to be a text file. IE goes by whatever the suffix is (for instance .MP3).
The next version of Firebird (0.8) has a better handling method for this. It is due to be released Monday 2/9. Or, use the current nightly (last release: 1/31). |

I upgraded to a nightly a few weeks ago (the one with the installer) and it had the option to open movies in WMP. (aswell as a bunch of other nifty things)
The next stable release (with installer etc) should be out soon, otherwise you can find the nightly with installer here |
I'm guessing that the link is supposed to bring up media player? that' youre clicking on a link to a music file of some flavor? If so, you're going to want to check your MIME types. I'm not familiar with how firebird in particular handes mime types, but I'm sure you can get it from someone else here, or from the Firebird help files.
